One More On
The Egg Boat
The steamer Gold, the only known boat to catch its own fish, broke all records yesterday on a down trip through the tule region when it kicked six bass into the pantry frying pan. The Gold wears a paddle wheel under the rear suspender buttons. The kitchen window is directly opposite the paddle wheel. Fish which become entangled with the paddle are thrown into the kitchen.
Recently the cook rigged up a chute so the fish would land in the frying pan. His only job thereafter was to turn them over. On yesterday’s trip there was enough fish for the crew, the captain, the cook’s aunt and two stevedores, who smelled them cooking and waded out to dinner. On a recent trip, the paddle flipped a plug hat, two crabs, an oar, and a dead goat through the kitchen window. The bass were a welcome change. — Chronicle.
