Little Rock, July 12th. — This morning, Samuel
Myers’ young child, while playing with an old mus-
ket, shot the ramrod right through the body and
arms of Samuel Welch, a young companion. The
wound is not necessarily fatal.

Gun Accident Takes Life of 7-Year-Old
OAKLAND, Dec. 31 (AP) – Her
spinal cord severed by a rifle bul-
let, 7-year-old Paula Mercurio
died in Providence hospital early
today.
Police said her 10-year-old
brother, Richard, related he
opened a closet door “and a gun
fell down and went off. Paula fell
and started crying.”

Serious Accident.—We learn, that in
Vallejo Township, on Sunday evening last,
a Mr. Burns, while repairing his pistol,
accidentally discharged it—the ball taking
effect in the left check of his little girl,
(a child about six years old,) passing
through and lodging just back of the left,
ear. Drs. Barnes and Bond were im-
mediately sent for, but were unable to ex-
tract the ball. Hopes of her recovery
are very slight.
