False Alarm. — Several cracks resembling the
explosions of a pistol were heard to occur on Second
street, between I and J, on Wednesday night, which
started a number of people, and sent them inquiring-
ly into the street. The cause of the explosions could
not be ascertained, although facts were sufficiently
apparent to show that no one had been shot — much
to the disappointment of a few, who had expected to
see some one of the shooters shot. It is high time
for a repetition of this innocent amusement. A
whole week has elapsed without any thing of the
kind occuring.
