RECORDER’S COURT. — In the case of the people
against James Huff, for an assault upon Quang, a
Chinaman, two juries have disagreed and been dis-
charged. In the trial which took place on Wednes-
day, S. S. Goode, one of the counsel for the defence,
moved to exclude Chinese testimony, on the ground
that it was mulatto testimony, and incompetent to
convict a white man. The motion was overruled by
the Court, who did not agree with the counsel in
opinion. How the case will eventually be decided,
it is difficult to tell.
