WASHINGTON —(U.P.)—Black-
boards and books in your living
room. Via television.
That’s the aim of American edu-
cators if the government will pro-
vide them space on the airways.
They have asked the Federal Com-
munications Commission to set
aside some television frequencies for
their exclusive use.
The commission is now holding
hearings. The educators have pre-
sented witnesses in an effort to
show that television is ideal for ed-
ucational programs, that the public
wants them, and that the nation’s
schools can provide them.
To press their case, educational
groups have combined into the joint
committee on educational television.
It is headed by Dr. I. Keith Tyler,
director of radio education for Ohio
State University.
