It will take one million brick for the main building of the Lachman & Jacobi wine vaults in East Petaluma and as many more for the smaller buildings. The McNear Company has been awarded the contract for the brick and the first lot of 100,000 is already on the ground.

Lachman & Jacobi, extensive wine merchants,
who lost their wine cellar and cooperage shop
in San Francisco in the fire, will rebuild a
wine cellar and depot in Petaluma, Cal, Previous
to the fire the company had reduced the force
at its cooperage plant very materially with the
idea of buying its cooperage rather than making
it. This policy will be continued and while a
small cooperage plant may be maintained in San
Francisco, the company will buy the great bulk
of the barrels and tanks needed for its large
wine cellar.
